Funny how things happen. I wake up this morning ignorant. I read in Paste that Ben Folds has a new album coming out, which I didn't even know. I go to wikipedia for more info, and learn that, back in July, Folds intentionally leaked a fake version of the album—with fake versions of real songs—onto the Internet. Now I'm sitting here listening to a phony version of an album that I didn't even know existed.
And on top of all this, it's great! It's weird, but Folds seems to be at his best when he's loosest. This throwaway of an "album" is more engaging and enjoyable than his last official release, the labored "Songs for Silverman". Folds' genius apparently is only released when he's able to musically say, "@#%$ it". I hope the real album is this good.
(p.s. part III of the Bonnaroo recap is still in the works!)

I'm still way fond of his work with William Shatner, that album is classic gold.
